IARI – Institute of Art-Related Injury, 2005 [with Beatrice Gibson], photography, video

info >< studio >

Following minor personal injuries resulting from tripping together over a poorly cordoned public sculpture, artists Jonathan Allen and Beatrice Gibson founded the short-lived ‘Institute for Art-Related Injury [IARI]. Cases studies considered by IARI were categorized on a one-to-ten scale using the ‘Stenhdal Index’, named after the nineteenth century French writer’s well-documented aesthetic collapse when confronted with the beauty of the city of Florence.
